Do you take insurance?
We do not bill your insurance company for you, however, you can submit your appointment receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement at an out-of-network rate, after your deductible. Anecdotally, patients with PPO insurance and healthcare FSA's report that they have received 70-80% reimbursement for the first appointment and for follow up appointments. Please click here to view our Financial Policy in detail. ***Unfortunately, Medicare patients are unable to receive Medicare reimbursement due to Medicare’s billing guidelines, so clinic costs are out of pocket. Click here to view the "Why can't I submit to Medicare" document***
Your insurance policy and deductible are unique and we encourage you to call your insurer to inquire about reimbursement. Please click here to view our “Codes for Insurance Reimbursement” document. You can identify the appointment billing codes for the appointment type you are interested in, then call your insurer to inquire about how much you can expect to be reimbursed. You may also choose to ask how long it might take to be reimbursed.
Most doctors and clinics cope with the requirements and costs of participating in insurance networks by keeping office visits very brief, so that they can see many patients within a given time frame. Unfortunately, we have found that we cannot be participating providers in the insurance networks and provide the time-intensive, well-researched, expert intensive care that we do.
What services do you offer and how much do they cost?
Free 20 min. Integrative Medicine consultation with Dr. Singh on the phone (1 per person): a simple 3 question intake form is to be completed prior to this appointment.
Integrative/ Functional Health New Patient (initial appointment): Full pre-appointment chart review followed by a 2 hour in- office consultation, including a comprehensive integrative assessment with investigation of root causes and formulation of a treatment plan. Virtual appointments can be accommodated, however, we will not be able to provide a superbill in those cases. All intake forms, consents and authorizations to be completed 1 week prior to appointment date to provide Dr. Singh with sufficient time to review and prepare for your individualized appointment. If the questionnaires are not received prior to initial consultation, you will be asked to reschedule.
In addition, any records or recent blood work results you may have or are able to obtain would be very helpful as looking at the whole picture will assist in mapping out our next steps.
**The cost of Initial visit is $800. A deposit of $300 due at time appointment is made and the remainder is due at time of appointment.
Follow-up appointments: A full review of any test results, progress made and steps going forward will be mapped out, modified or cemented. This is a dynamic process and sometimes we take one step forward and two steps back until we find the right rhythm for you.
**Cost for the follow up visit is $350 for 60 minutes. Deposit of $100 due at time appointment is made.May be in person/skype/phone appointment.Same charges will apply.
What is the cancellation policy?
3 Business days advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. If you are unable to give us 3 business day advance notice you will be charged the $300 deposit for new appointments, $100 for follow ups. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
If you provide the 3-day notice, full pre-payment will be refunded or applied to a rescheduled appointment.
No-shows: Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment.
Late Arrivals: If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, Dr. Singh will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start an appointment. Regardless of the length of the actual appointment, you will be responsible for the “full” appointment. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.
What health concerns does Dr. Singh address?
Commonly treated conditions include Autoimmune, stress and fatigue concerns, hormonal imbalances, digestive and gastrointestinal complaints such as irritable bowel syndrome, GERD, inflammatory bowel syndrome (ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s Disease), osteoporosis, cardiovascular health issues such as hypertension, high cholesterol. She will also address blood sugar stabilization, body weight regulation and metabolic irregularities.
What types of treatment suggestions can I expect?
Dr. Singh considers the following when developing individualized treatment plans:
Environmental inputs – the air you breathe and the water you drink, the diet you eat, the quality of the food available to you, your level of physical exercise, toxic exposures and traumas you have experienced.
Mind-body connection – psychological, spiritual, and social factors can all have a profound influence on your health. Considering these areas helps Dr. Singh see you as a whole person, rather than a list of physical symptoms.
Genetic makeup – although your DNA is an unchanging blueprint for your life, research shows that gene expression is profoundly influenced by your environment, diet, exercise, experiences, attitudes, and beliefs. You can change the way your genes are activated and expressed.
An integrative approach addresses your body’s ability to process past experiences, rid itself of toxins, regulate hormones and neurotransmitters, have a healthy immune and inflammatory response, digest and absorb nutrients, and maintain structural integrity, psychological and spiritual equilibrium and produce the energy you need to live your life. We offer a wide array of available interventions and always customize a personalized treatment plan. Treatments, including the healing that comes from being listened to and understood, may include:
Lifestyle changes pertaining to diet, exercise, mind-body practices and emotional health strategies.
Supplement recommendations including herbal preparations, botanical medicines, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids based on validated testing (prescription drugs supplied if indicated).
Hands-on treatments, as needed.
A comprehensive, individualized plan to meet your goals.
How many appointments will I need?
With our integrative approach, you might anticipate improvement or resolution in just a few appointments, if your problem is pin-pointed or short-term. If your concern is longstanding, Dr. Singh can provide you with an estimation as to how many appointments may be needed to reach your health goals. Making an estimate is easier once all relevant test results are in. Sometimes it takes several rounds of testing to ascertain root causes of complex issues.
Can Dr. Singh act as my primary care physician?
Dr. Singh is a specialist and will work in partnership with your primary care physician (PCP). Dr. Singh has managed internal medicine issues during her emergency medicine residency and for the 13 years she has been in practice. She is also a board certified Pediatrician. However, she cannot act as your primary care doctor because she is in solo practice and is not on call 24/7, although she is highly responsive. Many identify a primary care doctor for referrals, primary care and emergencies, but rely on Dr. Singh for health care appointments and simple questions between appointments. We are happy to and welcome the opportunity to correspond with your PCP’s- we are your health team and we all want the best for you!
Are there any referral bonuses or bulk discounts?

What kind of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, debit cards, and credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and AMEX. We also accept FSA (Flex Spending Account) credit cards.
Do I have to come to the clinic to see Dr. Singh?
We offer phone and video consultations with patients but in-person is preferred for the first visit-there is no substitute for a physical examination. To stay in touch and provide some inspiration and keep you informed of new programs and talks, we will be sending out an educational newsletter quarterly. Unfortunately, phone appointments are not eligible for insurance reimbursement. The same charges will apply.
What are clinic hours?
Monday: 9:00am-3:00pm CST, unless otherwise specified.
Who works in the clinic?
Our virtual assistant, Tim, works from a remote location and will be communicating with you via email or phone or through the patient portal. Tim will help you set up appointments

What is Practice Fusion and how do I use it?
We use Practice Fusion, a HIPAA-compliant web platform for secure email, prescriptions and lab results. New patients sign up to the free patient portal to complete their online health record when they make their first appointment.
How can Integrative Medicine testing help me and what testing you offer?
**Note: We can only provide limited specialty testing with Medicare patients which includes Spectracell testing (Micronutrient Testing, genetic testing, cardiometabolic testing, hormonal, lipid testing area available) and some Doctor’s Data testing.
In addition to conventional labs, we offer additional validated tests. These may require a saliva, blood, urine or stool sample. We do not draw blood in the office, but can help you find a nearby blood draw location and, frequently, a phlebotomist can come to your home. If an initial payment for your test is required, then no additional payment is needed—so no surprise bills. Most integrative tests also go through your insurance but your results will not be shared with your insurer without your permission.
To complete your testing, you will receive a test kit with instructions, and we are always available for questions. The Healing Way Chicago receives no kick-backs or payment for any test offered, so all test recommendations are made with your best interests in mind.
Micronutrient Test: Intracellular test of key vitamins, minerals, amino acids & anti-oxidants. Nutrient deficiencies have been linked to arthritis, Parkinson's, substance abuse, behavioral disorders, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, chronic fatigue, macular degeneration, diabetes, immune disorders, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and osteoporosis. Insurance copay $190, Medicare $88. Additional testing options with the Micronutrient Test: ApoE4, MTHFR (see below). Blood sample.
ApoE4 (gene test)—how important are exercise and diet for you? Lifestyle factors are more important for some than others, $40 copay, blood sample.
MTHFR (gene test)—This test is free with your micronutrient test. The MTHFR gene makes an enzyme which transforms dietary folic acid to its active form. Active folic acid converts homocysteine to methionine, which helps with depression, inflammation and helps convert hormones. Methionine becomes SAM-e in your liver, which is anti-inflammatory, supports your immune system, helps produce and then breakdown brain chemicals such as serotonin, dopamine and melatonin—all of which is essential for health. SAME-e is also involved in the growth, repair and maintenance of your cells. Optimizing methylation also helps you eliminate toxins and heavy metals to reduce your risk of cancer and other health issues. Free with your micronutrient test, otherwise $40. Blood sample.
Neuroscience/NeuroLab: Neurotransmitter and cortisol testing. Do you suffer from too much stress, poor sleep, fatigue, anxiety, low mood, poor attention, too little or too much energy, digestive complaints, weight problems, headaches or immune issues? Testing starts at $99, all insurance accepted. Easy testing (saliva and/or urine, no blood draw) for many tests. Testing is also available from Genova/Metametrix.
US Biotek or ALCAT: IgG Food allergy testing. Inflammation and chronic activation of the immune system due to food sensitivities are linked to digestive disorders, migraines, obesity, chronic fatigue, ADD/ADHD, painful joints, skin disorders, arthritis and more. US Biotek $199 for 96 foods. ALCAT $250 from 50 foods (100, 150 and 200 foods available). Blood draw required for ALCAT. Blood spot (finger prick, no blood draw required) for US Biotek.
Genova assesses biochemistry to understand symptoms from the molecular level. Specialty tests: toxicity and heavy metals, small intestine bacterial overgrowth, stool analysis, urine organic acids, complete hormone evaluation and many others. All insurance accepted except Aetna, Principal, Humana, Kaiser Permanente, Tufts, Federal BCBS, and BCBS of NC. Copay varies depending on test.
Doctor’s Data Stool Test: Evaluate digestion/absorption, bacterial and yeast balance, parasitic infection, assess for inflammation, hepatic function, toxicity, and nutritional balance. $195 for a Comprehensive Stool Analysis; $315 for Comprehensive Stool Analysis with Parasitology; and other specialty tests are available as well. All insurances accepted. Copay varies depending on test.
Doctor’s Data Plasma Methylation Profile: genotype doesn’t change but the functional expression of our genes changes rapidly and significantly based on our lifestyle choices including nutrition, exercise, exposures, etc. This test is an excellent litmus test for methylation optimization—and shows how your choices affect your cellular health and biochemistry. $155, blood draw at any local AnyLabTestNow is required.
Integrative Testing and Your Wallet:
While you should expect to receive an explanation of benefits, we choose your testing carefully so that you should never receive a bill from Quest/LabCorp/Health Network Labs for insurance-reimbursed testing. If you do, please bring this to our attention. Dr. Singh does not intentionally order ANY insurance-reimbursed lab tests that are not covered. You are responsible for abiding by your insurance and deductible guidelines.
Dr. Singh will only recommend integrative testing options that do not have hidden costs.
You are responsible for the initial agreed upon cost of your testing, but no further payment is ever required. You will receive an explanation of benefits from your insurance company and possibly even a test bill since the testing company is allowed by law to bill you up to three times. They are required however to bill you if your insurance has not reimbursed them for the test. Regardless if your insurer covers the test or not, you are only responsible for the up-front agreed-upon charge, and nothing further. Do not pay any bills related to your integrative testing with Dr. Singh! Call us if you have any questions or concerns and we’d be happy to help.
When your test results come in, we will notify you via email!
